Ojos de Brujos

Le festival de musique du monde d'Olso nous offrait samedi soir la possibilité de voir Ojos de Brujos, fameux groupe cubain-espagnol formé en 1996 à Barcelone et qui amena avec lui la nouvelle star du Hip Hop cubain Kumar.
Il ouvra la voie à Ojos de Brujos pour une soirée qui semblait déjà marquante. Dasari Kumar est un chanteur des plus prometteur, mais son groupe de musiciens ne semblait pas toujours à la hauteur. Les projecteurs s'éteignent, près pour se rallumer sur Ojos et un public déjà échauffé.

On Saturday night, the Festival of World Music offered us the possibility to see Ojos de Brujo, the famous Spanish-Cuban band. They brought with them the new Cuban hip hop star Kumar. He was the opening support for Ojos de Brujo, and although the leaflet of the festival promised an evening to remember, it was not thanks to this support group. Dasari Kumar is a very promising singer, but his band was quite average—completely opposite from the main star, Ojos de Brujo, in which each member is virtuous in the musical field. We couldn't wait for the night to roll on and for the best to come.

Leur scène s'ouvre sur des percussions latines et indiennes mêlées de guitares aux airs de flamenco. Une grande et élégante dame apparait tout de blanc vêtue pour époustoufler avec le rythme effréné de ses claquettes. Un DJ y ajoute la modernité de sons électrique pour toujours plus d'entrainement. Le mélange de style est le maître mot d'Ojos de Brojos, la chanteuse époustouflante de couleurs et d'énergie entre en scène avec un entrain espagnol plein de sensualité. La salle se met alors à danser de tout son souffle de la rumba au flamenco. Les filles ne pouvaient s'empêcher de rêver en voyant le pianiste trompettiste ajoutant une touche reggae au grand mix des cultures et des influences.

The scene opens with Latin percussion and Indian tablas mixed with the strings of a flamenco guitar. An elegant lady appears dressed all in white to overwhelm us with the rhythm of her tapping. A DJ adds some sounds to give a modern tune that is more and more entertaining. But the blend of style does not stop here: during the next song, the singer arrives. Dressed in brilliant colors, she sings magnificently in Spanish and conveys a sense of freedom and sensuality. The room can do nothing but dance in reaction to her very breath of rumba flamenco. The girls cannot help but to dream of seeing the trumpeter and pianist who adds a touch of reggae and rock according to the tune of the song. There is a good atmosphere under the stage and on it too, and the beat connects us all.
